Privacy, in plain English

Patch is a village noticeboard. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell it.

Draft policy. Patch is pre-launch. This page will be reviewed by a solicitor before real accounts open, and the date of the final version will appear here.

What we collect

Account: your first name, surname initial, email, village and (for helpers) an optional photo and a few lines about yourself.
Jobs and listings: what you post is visible to others by design. Job postcodes show the street, never your house number, which is shared only with a helper you choose.
Under-18s: helpers must be 18+ at launch. If a 16–17-year-old registers interest we keep only their first name and email for the waiting list, and nothing is public.

What we never do

Sell or share your data with advertisers.
Handle or store payment details. Money changes hands directly between neighbours.
Show your exact address, email or phone number publicly.

Sign-in with Google or Facebook

If you sign in with Google or Facebook we receive only your name and email address, which we use to create your account. We never post to your accounts and never receive your password.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have your account and everything in it deleted, at any time. Email bradleigh.barnes@gmail.com and it is done. Businesses listed in the Pro directory from public adverts can be removed with one message.
